Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava is working on designs for DIA’s south terminal makeover, including a FasTracks train station, a Westin hotel and a rail bridge over Pena Boulevard.
On a sheer river bank, amongst birch, aspen, pine and Nature-sculpted boulders, lies Juvet, Europe’s first landscape hotel. At first glance, the seven detached guest rooms seem modest and unassuming. But when you open the door and go in, it’s as if Nature rushes in to greet you through the massive panoramic windows. You can almost feel the trees brushing against you, and the snow-white drops of spray from the river Valldøla on your face.
I wouldn’t mind spending a night (or two) in the Juvet hotel. If you visit the link, above, you’ll notice it is next to a little farm!
I have reoccurring dreams of storms, waves, darkness, and cold. Different things happen in my dreams, but always the same scene over and over again. There is a a wooden structure amongst the dark rock and crashing waves, sometimes a dark lake. This structure is safe, warm, and friendly. My dark dreams aren’t horrific scenes. The vast cold ocean or water is something beautiful and desired. I love dark clouds – storms on the horizon. I find it difficult to describe these dreams of mine, but I do run across architecture that helps put my subconscious into conceptual reality. I guess I share this dream with other people – like a ton of other people… Thanks Dwell!
Note the Cabin Vardehaugen from Fantastic Norway Architecture in Vardehaugen, Norway. I obviously didn’t build this exposed dark wood sanctuary atop the stone, but I definitely dreamed of it.
My other previous example (a little bit of backtracking from 9F) is Senja, Norway
I know this sounds strange to say that I’ve dreamed several times of this “place” that I’ve never been before, but know fondly in my dreams. This “place” looks like Senja, Norway and it has been beautifully architecturally designed and photographed here. Multiple views and the details also on this website.
The Pad: “This appropriately quirky residence and music studio is as free thinking and boundary pushing as the art and music of its occupants, the wife, a photographer and artist, and her husband, a rock music icon. The addition/renovation to their home is the central piece of a larger master plan developed for 6 adjoining properties in a blighted neighborhood of Oklahoma City. These properties, referred to as “the compound” for those familiar with it, are being transformed in stages.”
Market C. I’d like to shop here, or have a little cottage with a red door and clean white interior. So fresh!
Market-C is housed in a completely remodeled historic Phillips 66 Station, located on The Mother-Road…Route 66. Market-C is another inventive and quality concept brought to you by a Good Egg Dining Group.
