Thrift Store Finds – Tea

Posted: July 27th, 2010 | Author: stacey | Filed under: Food & Drink | Tags: , , | Comments Off

I’m enjoying my Earl Green tea. I have recently acquired an antique tea tin from Jacksons of Piccadilly, in which I keep my tea freshly waiting for me every morning and afternoon. I love the thrift store because A. I can drop off the unwanted, clearing my flat for future finds, B. my undesirables become new treasures for someone else, C. it is the ultimate form of recycling, D. it is easy on my wallet!

What are some good finds you have come upon at the thrift store? Anything that should be featured on Antiques Roadshow? Memories from childhood? Your favorite coffee mug?

A BIG thanks to Jon, for everything!

You’re a great partner and so much fun to work with! I can’t wait to see what future projects we’ll work on together!

And also – cheers for the brilliant tea cup (you shouldn’t have, really)!

XOXO, Stace

Thinking Ahead – Birthdays

Posted: May 14th, 2010 | Author: stacey | Filed under: Anglophilia, Food & Drink | Tags: , , | Comments Off

Okay, so truth be told, I am an only child. Only children tend to think a lot about their special celebrations because they typically get a lot of attention. I don’t typically like attention (I like the back row in dance, if that gives you a clue) but I DO LOVE BIRTHDAYS! Although I’ve already received my birthday gift from Joseph (I love it, thanks!!!) I still have a list. One of the major things on my list is tea. Sounds modest, right? Tea is something I enjoy (need) every morning. I’ve been using improper methods of brewing tea, as a result, leaving little bits of leaves in my cup, which isn’t even a tea cup – but a coffee cup, gasp. Not good, not good. So for my birthday, I’m really wishing for any of these great brewing baskets from Tea Forte!

Out with the old, in with the new… as they say! It’s about time I buy a Teastick of my own, instead of just marveling at them every time I eat at DJ’s with our friends (who happen to be regulars), Marc & Erin. I like the French toast with an Earl Grey cambric, but Marc (and Cory) enjoy the “kitchen sink” which has your daily calorie intake all in one go! But totally worth it, as I’m told.

I like the Gems because you can stick them in your dishwasher (top shelf) and they are pretty, naturally.

Happy lazy Sunday everyone!

Friday 5 o’clock Tea

I was born in San Miguel del Monte, a colorful town about 50 miles from Buenos Aires. There, I spent many summers drawing until I moved to Buenos Aires to study Graphic Design, the career that will lead me to the motion graphics world and later to illustration. I have an exquisite tea cup collection and I’m madly in love with a little dog named Poncho

Happy Friday! I’m currently sipping my cup of tea, what about you? I know today I’ll need my 5 o’clock tea too. I just can’t get enough! I am teaching, then off to J.Crew tonight!

This weekend I have some plans in the mix! Tonight 8 o’clock friends with Joseph, Saturday work, then Denver Restaurant week with the girls, Sunday is Grandpa Pings’s birthday dinner AND Sarah (yes, she finally graduated with her Dr) is flying into Denver that morning! I am so excited! Goodbye February, hello March!

Have a lovely start to your weekend!

Time Wasted

Posted: February 23rd, 2010 | Author: stacey | Filed under: Food & Drink | Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , | Comments Off

Thinking warm thoughts on a cold morning. Via Lesec and Miastora Flickr. I want a fireplace…

This morning I received this quote in my inbox.

Time you enjoy wasting, was not wasted. – John Lennon

This morning I am chilling out, avoiding stressful topics, relaxing with a cup of tea, a sweet potato cinnamon roll, my computer, and Joseph at our neighborhood cafe. It is a bitterly cold morning, so I figure what better way to spend such a chilly morning with warm thoughts and the best of company.

I wouldn’t mind having these this morning… Callie’s Charleston Biscuits and Zipper Cups for my tea – via Daily Candy

Some mornings I clean and work until I have to head out to teach, then to J.Crew. Other mornings I just want to relax and not pile my agenda with daunting chores. I want to savor time, waste time, daydream, sip tea, and just relax in my thoughts. Today is one of those days. Thanks goodness for that.

Tea Time!

All I can say is “I NEED THIS!” Need is a strong word, but when it comes to my tea, I like it strong!

There are so many creative ways of brewing your morning/afternoon/late afternoon/ evening pots of tea. Like this Penguin that Joseph found, the yellow sub, Bodum teapots, or contemporary tea infusers… they are all pretty fantastic. Either way you brew it, you must love it and want it often.

One necessity that goes without question – Every Anglophile must have a electric kettle on your kitchen counter. If you don’t have one, I recommend Breville Tea Kettles.

Thanks to Black*Eiffel for all her brilliant posts about the latest and greatest in the world of pretty things! She is a constant resource for those in the blogging world.

Make taste, not waste.
